The maritime and ports sector must rise to become a central pillar of national competitiveness, a driver of trade, investment, innovation and sustainable growth. With emphasising the nation's deep maritime heritage, the sector must now evolve beyond its traditional supporting role to become a dynamic driver of trade, investment, innovation, and sustainable growth. The matter was highlighted by the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications at the Launching of the Navigating 2030 MPABD Five-Year Strategic Plan. The event took place at The Empire Brunei, 11th December morning.
Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha as Chairman of Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam, MPABD, also said that Navigating 2030, is firmly aligned with Wawasan Brunei 2035, the Brunei Darussalam Economic Blueprint, RKN 12, and the MTIC Strategic Plan 2030, as well as guided by the principles of Maqasid Syariah as an ethical foundation for safe, prosperous, and sustainable maritime development.
The Navigating 2030 aims for the MPABD to uphold the highest standards of safety and sustainability; cultivate a thriving maritime economy; build a quality and future-proof workforce. The event coincided with a talk session. Also present was Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy for Fiscal and Deputy Chairman of MPABD.
